INTERVIEWS:
Warmen - Warhorse

Hi there. Congratulations to your great new album. Please describe the reactions to the CD so far.
Hello. thanks. well I dont know about the reactions yet. I only red a few reviews.
Do you care for the opinion of your fans, the press and people in
general? Or is it just you and your music?
Well I dont care that much. I just do what I feel like doing so the press reactions for example are not that important to me. Of course its nice to get feedback from fans.
Most of our readers probably know your main bands, but some of them may never have heard Warmen. Please give us a short briefing the biography.
Warmen started out as my solo project but has been devloping more into a real band.
Is Warmen a project? Or is it rather... yeah, what is it?
Well now that we have a steady line up you could call it a band escpecially if we could play a few shows.
Let's talk about your new CD. What are the differences between "Beyond Abilities" and "Accept the fact" in your opinion?
There are more songs with vocals on Accept. the overall feeling is quite the same i think.
What are the reasons for these differences?
Well it just happened that we wrote more songs with vocals this time.
My favourite is "They all blame". Can you tell us something about this song and it's history?
This song was originally suppodsed to be sang by someone else but then plans changed and we decided to ask Jonna to sing it. I also at that point when everything was already recorded changed the chorus to fit her better. one of my favourites too.
And what about "Lying delilah"?
I really like the main guitar riff and the vocals of Marko on this song.
Which one is YOUR favorite song from the album and why?
hard to pick just one song... maybe They all blame me
How and why did you choose the album cover? Is there a further meaning behind it?
the band members call the band "warhorse" and the recordcompany does too so they suggested to put a horse on the cover...
Are there some lyrics that are special to you? Tell us something about them.
All the lyrics were written by the singers so theres nothing that special to me. I mean like they are not about my feelings or anything. I am not much into lyrics.
Where do you get your inspirations from?
Just by playing and trying out different rythms and melodies and scaels and stuff. also by listening to music
What about the recording process of your new album? Any stories or curiosities to report?
I recorded the whole album in my own studio so we had a lot of time and also redid some stuff along the way.
Please tell us who you have come up with all these musicians!
Mirka and Lauri have been with Warmen since the first album and my brother Antti has been practising and learning stuff really fast so heas the main guitar player now.
What are the main characters in your album crew?
Well they all are highly skilled in playing their instruments i guess... I think we all have a passion about our instruments
We'd like to know something about your background in making music. How did you learn to play, what are your experiences and which musicians are your main technical influence?
I strted to play the piano when i was 5years old. then i got in to the pop jazz conservatory when i was 10 and studied there for 6years. then i actually quit playing totally for various reasons and started again when i was asked to join CoB.
Please name some lately released CDs that you like to listen to at home.
new Soilwork, new InFlames, new System of a Down...
What do you think about trends like Metal Core?
kinda cool but not like 100% my thing
Do you still watch other bands play? Have there been some shows lately that impressed you?
yes but i cant remember any impressive shows lately...
We'd like to know something about the underground in your hometown. Are you still in touch? And if so: Where do you hang out? Are there some yet unknown bands that you like?
No im not in touch at all. When im in finland I actually rather spend time at home cause I get to hang out on all the tours and gigs
How important is it for you to play live on stage?
its very important(CoB) but because of schedules Warmen cant play right now but hopefully we can play a few gigs someday.
Are there still some bands that you would die to play with?
to open up or? I would love to open up for Ozzy
Still three questions to go. What do you think of Metal web magazins?
I think they are a good source for fans to find info and interviews and stuff. some of the forums suck cause people are just talking shit about everything nowadays.
Is there something that you have never been asked but always have been eager to say?
hmmmmm..... well I have been doin a lot of interviews and i get asked all kinds of stuff so... i cant think of anything right now that i always wanted to say.
We are looking forward seeing you in Germany. Best whishes to you. Any last words?
Thank you for this interview and keep up the good work!!
