Please tell us in which studio the recordings took place, and who did the production? How long did it take? Are there any special notes about the production process?
Hi! We recorded in Nosturi, where many Finnish bands (HIM, Rasmus, 69 Eyes etc.) have their rehearsal rooms. We recorded with our new producer Sami Koivisto, with his studio kit, so we had almost as much time as needed. The recordings continued the whole spring last year, little by little the songs got their identities. It was easy to record there because that was the place where we´ve also rehearsed the songs, very familiar place to work in, with all the amplifiers and the other electric dust there. But no, there isn´t any special notes about this process anywhere.
Is there any kind of music style that you would never ever use for a Waltari album?
You know, in Finland we call this 80´s poser hard rock / easy listening metal rock as a "sukkahousuhevi", bands like Poison. Well, THAT kind of music is not really our cup of tea.
What does "Waltari" mean? Why it is the name of your band?
The word Waltari is an old langobardian word which means "king", used in ancient Finnish language. It´s also the name of the Finnish writer from early last century. This guy Mika Waltari had a lot of effort during those days with bringing Finnish culture abroad… like a torch carrier of Finnish art.
What are your top five favorite records ever, and what are your topical favorites?
Nine Inch Nails: Downward Spiral, Prodigy: Music For The Jilted Generation, PIL: Album, Jethho Tull: Under Wraps, Beatles: White Double… the list you could continue almost endlessly – I´m a real music lover! Topicals: Korn: Untouchables, System Of A Down: Mesmerize, Depesche Mode: Playing The Angel, Yes: Relayer, Mew: The last one.
Do you have a favorite Waltari album?
Sure. Always the latest.
What about your future plans, any new touring or projects at the horizon?
Touring and next album, those are the most important ones.
Who is Jens Lehmann? Any idea? Do you like football? (-;
Jens Johansson I know, but that one, uuh… too difficult. I do sports myself, but unfortunately have no time for "sofa-sports".
Thanks for answering my questions. I hope to meet you on tour. Stay on well & b y h Marc.
Bye, let´s keep on changing this world! Music rules!
