Hi Guys. How are you doing?
Yeah, we’re all good thank you! Touring touring, never boring!
How was / is the UK-Tour with Misery Signals and A Textbook Tragedy?
It’s going really good right now thank you. Real busy shows, real big sing-alongs and real good hangouts with Misery Signals and our boys in A Textbook Tragedy - all in all amazing times!
Please give us a short overview about ARCHITECTS history.
The band started when Tom and Dan were really young. Then Tim joined in late 2004 and they recorded ‘Nightmares’ in 2005. Then Ali joined and they toured loads. Then old singer Matt Johnson left, I joined the band and six weeks later we were recording ‘Ruin’.
Then we toured loads more and wrote loads more songs and got loads better and then we signed to Century Media, recorded our new album ‘Hollow Crown’ and here we are today!
What are your expectations about your new record "Hollow Crown"?
Well it’s had some really amazing reviews so far, and most of our fans seem to be stoked about it. We recorded it back in July 08, so I’m just eager to finally get it out there in the shops so we can tour more and play more songs from it.
Can you tell us any funny stories about the recording process for
your new record?
It was pretty stressful, but we got it done very fast in around 2 weeks. We lived in the studio, played lots of Xbox and smoked and drank a lot.
What about your lyrics? Who is the main-lyricalist and where did
your ideas for the lyrics come from?
I write all the lyrics. They just come from pure aggression and from me being angry about a lot of things, like shitty friends and people with big egos that get loads of glory without having worked for it or earned it.
I would say that your last and your current CDs are light in the
dark for the modern metal world. What do you think about the slowly
dying Metalcore trend?
Bye bye metalcore, see you in Hell.
You have some very good Atmospheric Hardcore parts in your music.
So why you have chosen those genres for your unique musical mix?
We all listen to lots of different styles of music, from Circa Survive through to Rotten Sound, so it’s cool to blend them all into one big sound. We don’t like to write to any rulebook.
Do you have any tour-plans for Germany this year? Maybe some festivals?
Yeah we will be doing all kinds of fests in Germany this year including Summerblast, and also Groezrock in Belgium! I’m stoked for that!
Are there any new songs you have written for your next CD or do
you want to get on the road first and promote "Hollow Crown" live?
Yeah we’ve already started writing – we’re always writing. We have 6 new songs done already, but we’re gonna be on the road touring Hollow Crown for quite a while so don’t expect a new album too soon. It’s not gonna be as short a break between albums as Ruin to Hollow Crown this time around.
What are your wishes for ARCHITECTS or especially Metal and
Hardcore in the future?
That it gets bigger and bigger and we just keep touring and touring as much as possible and making the music we want to make. As soon as it stops being fun and creative for us we’ll stop doing it!
Are there any bands you would like to tour with?
Just good bands please!
What are your five favourite records 2008? What do you think about
the new Metallica and the new Guns 'N' Roses?
I personally grew up on punk and hardcore, so I don’t really like either to be honest. I REALLY don’t like Guns N’ Roses at all.
Thank you for your time! The last words are yours!
Buy Hollow Crown on January 26th – don’t just download it! Come to a show, hang out, buy merch and singalong with us!!! Thanks a lot!!!
Danke an Sam Carter für die Antworten und an Dario von Century Media.
