Hi Maniac! Congratulations to your great new album. Please describe the reactions to the CD so far.
I have not read so many reviews yet. I like to wait a bit. But what I´ve heard has been positive.
Do you care for the opinion of your fans, the press and people in general? Or is it just you and your music?
Not really. I do music mainly for myself but if someone likes it then that´s fine with me.
Some of our readers may never have heard about you. Please give us a short briefing in the band's biography.
I started Skiltv in 2005. I´v had different members but now I have a steady line up.
Let's talk about your new CD. What are the differences between the first EPs and "Skandinavisk Misantropi” in your opinion?
It´s much more comprehensive. It sounds the way I wanted it and it´s like a whole piece of music for me.
What are the reasons for these differences?
The songs have matured. And I finally got them all out of my head the way I wanted them.
My favourite is "ScumDrug". Can you tell us something about this song and its history?
It´s a continuation of “Amfetamin”. It mainly descirbes the mindsets of me, Kvarforth and Ingvar during a long period. It was hell but very nice to record it. We recorded parts of it in the stairs outside the studio to get the right feeling.
Which one is your favourite song from the album and why?
I don´t know.
How and why did you choose the album cover? Is there a further meaning behind it?
It´s my nietzschian way of how I feel that institutionalized religion views life.
Where do you get your inspirations from?
What about the recording process of your new album? Any stories or curiosities to report?
The whole process was a curiosity but the most hellish thing was when we realized that all of Kvarforth´s guitars was almost tuned in D. So me and Ingvar had to record a lot of guitars over again, we had to tune in “almost” D. Maybe Kvarforth used a Swedish tuner.
How would you describe your own music?
How do you create your sound? Which equipment do you use?
Whatever equipment I need to. But I have used a lot of pedals that I built myself. And fucking around with different Marshall´s is always nice. There are other stuff as well, like old analogue synths and seriously fucked up ways of playing slide.
Please tell us something about the process of songwriting.
I can´t. It mainly builds up inside my head until I can find some way of expressing it.
What are your musical influences in your opinion?
This could be a very long list. Muisc from year 1000 and up until now.
We'd like to know something about your background in making music. How did you learn to play, what are your experiences and which musicians are your main technical influence?
My mother is a musician so I guess I got it very early. My favorite musician ever is probably Toni Iommi, in any genre, and I have to mention Arne Nordheim.
What do you think: How will SKITLIV sound like in let's say five years?
I have absolutely no idea. But my guess is ugly and heavy and disturbed.
Please name some lately released CDs that you like to listen to at home.
Thåström “Kärlek Är För Dom”, Black Sabbath “Paranoid” special ed.
The new Gorgoroth album and the last C-93 album AND the re-release of Nurse With Wound”
Do you still watch other bands play? Have there been some shows lately that impressed you?
I do, but not so often as I should. It´s been a while since I went to a concert now. I will see Thåström in January. I would like to see Episode 13 again.
What makes the difference between SKITLIV and other bands?
We'd like to know something about the underground in your hometown. Are you still in touch? And if so: Where do you hang out? Are there some yet unknown bands that you like?
I go to Neseblod Records about once a week and that´s pretty much it. I spend most of days at home. If there is any good bands coming up then Kenneth at Neseblod is usually telling me about it.
How important is it for you to play live on stage?
I really like to play live so I want to play live again as soon as possible.
Are there still some bands that you would die to play with?
I would like to play with C-93 again and it would be nice to play with Black Sabbath, HAHA!
Please tell us something about further Live activities.
I hope we will play live early next year. I want to tour Europe as soon as we can.
Still three questions to go. What do you think of Metal web magazines?
I do not spend much time on the internet. It´s very limited. Maybe I´m too old, hehe. I like to read real books and listen to real albums like vinyl.
Is there something that you have never been asked but always have been eager to say?
Not really. Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen.
We are looking forward seeing you in Germany. Best wishes to you all. Any last words?
Hope to see you on tour in Germany.
