Hi there. Congratulations to your great new album. Please describe the reactions to the CD so far.
Thank you! The feedback has been really positive so far! In Finland “Of Rust And Bones reached chart position #6 and the reviews have been really good. As far as I´m concerned, the reviews outside of Finland have also been positive and the same goes with the response we have got directly from our fans on our website.
Do you care for the opinion of your fans, the press and people in general? Or is it just you and your music?
Of course the most important thing is that you can stand behind your own music. Naturally we hope that other people like our music as well, but we don´t really think about things like that when we are writing new songs. After we have released an album we hope that it pleases our fans and gets good reviews, because things like that are necessary if you want to have some sort of career in the music business, but in the beginning we just try to create something that pleases ourselves.
Let's talk about your new CD. What are the differences between "Of Rust And Bones" and "A Dead Heavy Day" in your opinion?
I think we used much more different kinds of sounds on “Of Rust And Bones” compared to our previous albums and there´s also much wider spectrum of different kind of songs on this album.
What are the reasons for these differences?
In my opinion we have grown as a band and we have more courage to try different things. Our producer Hiili Hiilesmaa also helped us a lot in achieving the sound and vibe we were looking for for the album.
Which song is at the moment your favourite from the album and why?
At this moment it´s a track called “Invisible”. I think we truly managed to create the appropriate vibe and atmosphere for this song!
Are there some lyrics that are special to you? Tell us something about them.
Lyricwise I can´t point out just one song which is partically important to me. I think it´s more like there´s certain lines in many different songs that are touching or cool in my opinion.
How would you describe your music?
I see us as some sort of dark rock band with melancholic lyrics. We don´t really consider us much as a metal band. At least not anymore.
What makes the difference between Poisonblack and other bands who play dark and melodic Rock / Metal?
I think we have much more groove in our songs than many other bands of this genre. We also have a lot of black humour in our music and lyrics. It´s another element what many others seem to lack.
How important is it for you to play live on stage?
In my opinion it´s crucially important! After all, playing live in front of people was the whole reason why we started to play in a band. I can´t imagine myself doing just studio sessions or something like that. I wanna get out there and play in front of living and breathing people!
Which country do you like most for going on tour?
It´s impossible to pick up just one! Personally I like to tour in southern Europe because those countries are a little more “exotic” from our point of view, but touring in countries like Finland or Germany is also great…like I said, it´s really hard to choose just one!
Please describe your audience!
We have many different kinds of people on our shows I´m happy to say. They are not just fans of one specific music genre or anything like that. Some are into metal, some into gothic rock, etc…
Please tell us something about further Live activities.
We´ll start touring from Finland in April and we will play 4 shows in Germany in May. We will also visit Japan for the first in the end of May and during the summer we naturally try to play as many festival shows as possible. Hopefully we are able to do a major European tour in the next fall, but nothing is confirmed yet.
Please name some lately released CDs that you like to listen to at home.
I´ve been listening quite a lot to the latest Megadeth album, “Endgame”. I also like a lot of Wolfmother´s “Cosmic Egg” and I just bought the latest albums from our countrymen Tarot and HIM, but I haven´t had the time to listen them enough to say anything about them yet.
We are looking forward seeing you in Germany. Best whishes to you all. Any finishing words?
We are also already looking forward to playing in Germany! See you all on tour somewhere!
