Hi there. Congratulations to your great new album. Please describe the reactions to the CD so far.
Thank you. The album is being received very well by the press, with a few exceptions ofcourse. But the general audience is very enthusiastic about it.
Some of our readers may never have heard about you. Please give us a short briefing in the band's biography ant its major milestones up to now.
We started out at the end of 2007. We released a couple of demo's which were received well by the press. That led to a number of great performances and we even joined the Jágermeister Tour in Holland and signed several endorsements. After that we deceided to record a full lenght album. The album was picked up by Suburban Records in the Netherlands and they managed to get Massacre records to sign us and release our album. Full bio is also available on our website btw.
My favourite song on the new album is "7even Stitches". Can you tell us something about this song and it's history?
The song was the actually the last one to be written for the album. We wanted something that really pounded and after writing the eastern intro the rest of the song came quite naturally. We kinda made it our "theme" song with the lyrics describing all seven sins. It turned out to be one of the best songs on the album, so we are very pleased with it as well.
And what about "Tales Of Twilight"?
Hmmm... first of all it is Taste of Twilight.
Uuuhhh.... sorry for that. The Blind Guardian was cheating me.
I wrote this song about a friend of mine who was struggeling with drug abuse. It describes the downfall of people on drugs and how that completely dominates every essat of life.
Are there some lyrics that are special to you? Tell us something about them.
The lyrics of Between Broken Dreams are probably the most personal. They were written for someone I lost approx. a year before the album release. He was a major support in my life and also a fan of our music. So Between Broken Dreams is probably the most special to me.
Your band name is quite unique. What does it tell us?
Sin7sinS stands for doing what you want to do. Don't be held back by rules or moralities, live your life now. It is Hedonism in a way.
How would you describe your music?
Femal fronted metal. No more no less in every sense of the term.
At the end of your career: Which statement would you like to read about your band in the great history book of rock music?
Oohh that's a hard one...hopefully something about being an important influence to other musicians and being groundbreaking with our own sound etc... and something about touring the world intensivly and selling many, many records ;)
What makes the difference between Sin7Sins and other female fronted rock bands?
I think we have a unique sound that distinquishes us from other female fronted bands. We also want to put the metal back into Feamale fronted metal, so no gothic.
Mmmm... the promo pics tell another story though.
Is Utrecht a good place to live as a rock musician?
Yes there is a large musicians scene here. However due to the great number of (good) bands it is hard to reach anything in Holland. We also have the disadvantage of easily being labeled for being a Dutch female fronted band. People immidiatly assume you sound like Within Temptation or Epica. Which isn't a bad thing ofcourse but we have our own and different sound, which we think also appeals to people that normally do not like female fronted metal.
How important is it for you to play live on stage?
Very important ofcourse. That's the place where you can connect to your adience. No greater feeling then playing a great gig in front of a lot of people.
Please describe your audience!
Metalheads from all genres. As I said before we appeal to a larger crowd then most femal fronted bands.
Please tell us something about further Live activities.
We recently came to terms with a reknown Dutch booking agency. So staring in the new year we will be touring extensivly and hopefully be playing all the major festivals. Tourdates will be put online somewhere next month.
Is there a question left that you would like to answer? And what is the answer?
Not really, but I would like to mention that our debut album "Perversion Ltd." is in stores now and also available as download.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Germany. Best whishes to you all. Any finishing words?
Thank you for the interview. Hopefully we will be touring Germany next year and check us out online at www.sin7sins.com
