"Misantrophy" will be released in March. How do you feel right now, ready to release you new project 'Misanthropy'?!
I feel like a young god. I’ve never felt better. I feel like I was growing wings whenever I realize that ‘Misanthropy’ by Pandemonium has already been hailed as the album of the year 2011. By the way, the reviews of the latest Pandemonium album outgrew our boldest expectations. So we enter the new 2012 with pride on our banners and with a conviction that it’s our best album and, at the same time, a landmark in our career. If you don’t believe my words I encourage you to get to know the contents of ‘Misanthropy’!!!
What are the differences between the new album and your old stuff like 'The Zonei' and 'Hellspawn'?
The differences are vital. ‘Misanthropy’ is a perfect, mature and thought through album. It’s also spiritual and fresh. Brave and innovative in its form and, at the same time, kept in an appropriate convention and faithful to good old tradition of Black Metal. The predecessors of MISANTHROPY are good albums, worth attention, no doubt about it. However, the quality we offer now declasses everything else.
What is your personal message of "Misanthropy"?
It’s difficult to touch the non-material. To describe in words something that rotates and evolves constantly. It changes, permeates and comes back seemingly the same but every time it evokes different emotions. It would be best if everyone draws their own conclusions. I’ve heard so many opinions about this album already. All of them were accurate, important and interesting but there were many various emotions. It’s like you were afraid of something but didn’t know exactly what it was.
Tell us more about the songs on the new record. What was the the songwriting-process like, which track is going to be your favorite and why?
Let’s start from the end. The absolute essence and conclusion, the motto is the title composition ‘Misanthropy’. It’s recited in my native language but what are translators for? And, there are no crummy compositions on the album and these are not my words. I’m quoting magazines editors, reviewers etc. The lyrical part of the album was created for several years. I pay a lot of attention to what I write and one doesn’t come by optimal ideas and solutions immediately. The same with the music. This album was created for “some time” – about 4 years. We decided that we’re not releasing crap only because we’re in a hurry. We slowed down and we succeeded. One hundred percent.
What about the recording process of your album - any funny stories or curiosities to report; which studio, which producer, which equipment, which label and so on?!
We recorded in our friendly studio in Łódź - Viriam Art Studio. And again we hit the bull’s eye. Not only did we manage to achieve our own, unique sound of the album but also had absolutely comfortable working conditions. The studio is in Piotr’s private house. The owner Piotr Tyszkiewicz realized and mastered this material for us. He watched over the sound, its options and versions. We spent really loads of hours over the whole thing. Now I know that we made a good choice when it comes to choosing the studio. The guy has real talent, knowledge and technique. But most importantly, he does unusual things. I heard productions of other bands. Masterpieces. On highest world level.
Which songs would do like to perform/presented live on stage and why?
During concert we play ‘The Black Forest’ and ‘God Delusion’ from ‘Misanthropy’. First of all it’s impossible to play everything we have to offer and secondly these are the best numbers!!!!!!!! Although, as I mentioned before, there are no lousy ones on this album. However, we had to make a selection for the gigs. We play the best numbers from all our albums. There are quite a few:-).
Are there some lyrics which have a very special meaning for you? Tell us something about it, the creating/writing process and inspirations - how it came you wrote it!
I’m inspired by everything that surrounds me. The omnipresent evil, meanness, lies, the magic accompanying everything that guides us. I draw a lot from experiencing nature and from my own, internal deliberations over various things. For some they might be confusing and not totally Christian – from their point of view. The lyrics are created during years, months. They come to me. I don’t look for or chase them. It’s fascinating.
Please tell us something about the coverartwork (who did it, what´s the message) and which editions (CD/Vinyl, limited, CD/DVD?) would you like to release from your new album?
I am the author of the cover. What is its motto or message? After immersing into music and lyrics you’ll understand better the sense of your question. There were multiple options, propositions, and concepts of the cover ‘Misanthropy’. The cosmic impulse caused me to sit down one day and make the thing that you have a chance to see now. We can accept an idea that it’s a mirror reflection of each of us – each of you. After connecting with the musical and lyrical layer of the album, everything shapes itself and gets its own character. ‘Misanthropy’ shall fulfill.
Hope to see you soon live on stage in Germany, good luck for the release-parties in your hometown and the new stuff, greetz.
See you, then. But before we see each other in Germany on gigs, let’s enjoy what Pandemonium offers ‘Misanthropy’ on CD. I strongly recommend and I’m curious what your reactions will be. I’ll risk and say that you won’t be disappointed. Pandemonium greets Germany!!!
